Muse is absolutely not happy {Spoilers for Chapter 100}

....So this is how it ends up. She just shows that bastard so much consideration while claiming she hates him. Sheds tears for him. All the while ignoring that if he hadn't taken her in the first place none of the horrors that happened would have come to pass.

[He laughs, an insane hint tinting his voice.]

I should have marched my army straight through that damned duchy and taken her back. Wars have been started over less and kidnapping my queen was all the justification I needed. Yet my stupid original self played the good person and in return the duchy was turned upside down by her out of control powers and now she's going to be laden with that guilt as well. And somehow she still sheds tears for the bastard responsible for everything.

Your queen wasn't faithful.

Not sure if it's a matter of faithfulness or being so forgiving it borders on stupidity. To make matters worse my 'creator' insists on making her naive ways the right answer and always pigeonholing me into making decisions that would ultimately endanger the kingdom going forward. I mean how are we supposed to deter outside forces when a nameless duchy can just waltz up to our queen and kidnap her. FORCING ME TO GO WITH MY BUTLER UNDER ANOTHER IDENTIY to get her back from their lecherous prince who oh yes almost sullied her.

If I ever met my creator I would likely have them thrown in the dungeon on the spot and that would be me being merciful.

If she isn't thinking about you in her forgiveness, she is misguided. Unless...

Not exactly. Though even when we first met she had quite the strong will. The first person to just oppose me to my face instead of trying to plant a dagger in my back when I wasn't looking. It was quite refreshing.

Yet I just can't shake the feeling she's becoming something else. Forgiveness and kindness is something easily taken advantage of and she gives it out even more freely than most.

[Alexiel doesn't give out forgiveness easily - if ever. She can only imagine a woman who is uncomfortable with herself or her position would be so willing to give it out.]

Do you care for her beyond her honesty? I would be concerned for her well-being.

[Psychological torture can be just as bad - if not worse - than physical torture or imprisonment.]

Be a good husband.

I have been trying to. I have changed more than I ever thought possible and yet all that gets me is some other arrogant power hungry fool comes around, spirits her away for a while then when I finally catch up she either begs me to let them off or holds no grudge over them. Rinse and repeat. On and on that same wheel turns with no change. This is not the first time and given the whims of my creator I sincerely doubt it's going to be the last.

Learn why she forgives them so easily. Does she have a natural distaste for conflict? If so, she must promise to accept your protection and remember that her abductions cause you pain.

[Why is she being a relationship counselor? Alexiel isn't sure. She should probably take some of her own advice where her..."relationship"...is concerned.]

If she cannot serve her husband and kingdom well, she should not be queen regardless of your feelings for her.

[Duty. He never asked for this duty. He was forced to become a king from a very young age and as such was forced to embrace both the good and dark aspects that came with being a king which warped his personality quite a bit until he met Nike.]

He clearly cares for her well being, or he would not go to save her in person. The fault does not lie with the boy, it lies with the woman.

For a woman like that, I would not waste the resources, but he is sacrificing his own safety to go after someone who appears to be little more than a fool at best, and a security risk at worst. What he should do for his country is be done with her, if she cares so little about him and her own country that she refuses to allow him to do what any sane ruler would do.

I already have. You're the one who was suggesting he be a good husband. It would seem he already is, and his wife is being a poor excuse of such, would you not agree?

No, I don't agree. He doesn't understand her motivation; he is too fixated on how it effects him.

That is because it Does effect him, as well as his people. Therefore he cannot be blamed for being fixated as you say. He worries over her well being. He foolishly puts himself at risk for someone who is ungrateful. A wise ruler would make an example of those who dared to kidnap or injure his wife, and his fool of a wife does not allow it. His kingdom would be viewed as a joke by neighboring kingdoms. Because the woman perpetually forgives her enemies no matter what they do, it is as much saying "Feel free to do whatever you like, I will do nothing". There is being forgiving, and then there is being stupid. She is the latter. His wife is an embarrassment and an insult to the name.

You seem to know far more about his situation than a simple stranger. [Or they are really judgmental.] I would like to hear her side of the story before passing judgement.

Were you put on trial for betraying your love, forgiving those who kidnapped you and caused the problem to begin with?

Should the woman speak up and confirm the boy's words, or give insufficient justification for her actions, will you still support her?

I was put on trial for rebelling against god. [Love had a lot to do with it since she was trying to save her twin at the time.]

I want to hear her. I have lived long enough to know a liar. [She has also lived long enough to know when someone is a little unstable. Like the King.]

You simply said you wished to hear her. I acknowledged that previously, however, I asked if, when you hear her, will you still support her if she cannot truly justify her actions. It does not matter to me if you do or not, that is your will, of course, but I am simply curious.

As for myself personally, I would find it difficult to accept any justification for what we have heard, but as you say, it is but one side of the conversation.

I thought that answer would be obvious. I have no loyalty to her or her King. [It's about justice. If the Queen can't justify her actions - or inaction - she is unfit for her position and her crown.]

To some, yes, however I did not wish to assume, and there are still those who would continue to support someone simply because she is a woman. [ The 'you poor thing' defense, which C.C. would just be disgusted with. ]

Hence my reason to ask.

Even if I could make myself do that...I doubt my original is going to get the same lenience from that tyrant who wrote us into existence.

I suppose I would ask what happened to her to change her like this. She was always kind but she was also smart. Now it's as if one side eroded the other.

Perhaps that is the case for why your creator treats you in the way that they do. It doesn't justify their actions, of course, but it may be enlightening.

Enlightenment is hardly what I'm after.

That would be ideal. But have you steeled yourself to the possibility of the opposite being true? That this 'creator' would continue making your beloved into a fool puppet?
